I know from experience how challenging it can be to find your feet in a new country. That’s why I’m here to help you not just communicate, but also feel understood and supported.

Which kinds of interpreting are there?

Simultaneous Interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting means translating the speaker’s words in real time. Because it demands intense focus, at least two interpreters usually take turns in a booth. This method is ideal for big events or when the audience speaks different languages.

Chuchotage, which means whispered interpreting, is a form of simultaneous interpreting where the interpreter sits close to the listener and delivers the translation in a low voice. It is commonly used in court proceedings or similar situations.

Liaison Interpreting

In liaison interpreting , the interpreter conveys short segments of speech from one language to another and vice versa. This method is ideal for interviews, meetings, or negotiations.

How much does an interpreter cost?

Interpreting assignments are billed by hour. My hourly rate for community interpreting and general and legal assignments is based on the German Judicial Remuneration and Compensation Act (JVEG) and is 85 euros per hour or part thereof. In addition, VAT, travel expenses, and the full hourly rate for travel time will be charged. For more complex assignments, such as for business presentations that require a longer preparation, the rate might be higher. For instance, if you’re looking for an interpreter for a 90-minute wedding ceremony near Würzburg, the total cost might be around 300 euros. But as every assignment is different, feel free to reach out —I’ll be happy to send you a non-binding quote, so you can have have of mind before committing. Feel free to email me at info@annika-zang.com with all your details — when, where, how long, and what the occasion is — and I’ll gladly take care of the rest!
